What You'll Do
- As part of the Design Team in the Biosensors group, the successful Development Engineer will: Focus on the design and development of metabolite sensor technologies, with an emphasis on electrochemical sensing approaches.
- Support the planning, execution, and delivery of sensor development activities across multiple stages of the development cycle.
- Perform laboratory analysis, characterisation, and evaluation of newly developed and commercially available sensor systems.
- Contribute to the optimisation of sensor performance, including sensitivity, selectivity, stability, and reproducibility.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in Quality, Test, Reliability, Manufacturing, and other relevant disciplines.
- Support development activities involving biological samples, including blood, where applicable.
- Contribute to documentation, design controls, and development processes in line with regulated medical device environments.
- Support technology transfer activities to industrial or high-volume manufacturing settings where required.
- Maintain clear and detailed development records and communicate progress to the Biosensors Team and broader stakeholders.
- Contribute to the generation of new ideas and intellectual property across sensing technologies, materials, testing approaches, and manufacturing processes.
- Qualifications & Requirements Required : BSc, MSc or PhD in Electrochemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Previous hands-on experience developing metabolite sensors, such as lactate and/or glucose sensors.
- Strong knowledge of electrochemical sensors and their principles, design, and performance characteristics.
- Experience in sensor characterisation, laboratory testing, and data analysis.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- High levels of motivation, initiative, and creativity, with a positive and proactive attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical challenges and deliver high-quality results in a development environment.
- Desired: Industrial experience developing metabolite sensors or related biosensor technologies.
- Experience in biomarker sensor development, including the design and evaluation of sensors for diagnostic or monitoring applications.
- Experience in dissolved gas sensor development, particularly for measuring dissolved gases in aqueous and/or biological samples Experience working with blood or blood-based samples in a laboratory or development setting.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 and medical device development processes.
- Experience working in diagnostics, biomedical devices, biotechnology, or a related regulated industry.
- Knowledge of reliability testing, verification, validation, or technology transfer to manufacturing.
- Experience with materials, membranes, enzymes, polymers, or other components relevant to biosensor development.
- Familiarity with product development in regulated environments would be advantageous. #LI-CC1 For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S.
- Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S.
- Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
