Overview

  • Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
  • Join an inclusive team passionate about one thing: using their expertise in the relentless pursuit of innovation for customers and partners.
  • The solutions we build help make everything from virtual reality experiences to breakthroughs in neural networks possible.
  • We do it all while committing to integrity, sustainability, and giving back to our communities.
  • Because doing so can fuel the very innovation we are pursuing.
  • Project Title Lithography Process Improvement & Automation Project Department Front-End Manufacturing – Lithography Process Engineering Internship Duration Minimum 5–6 months Project Description This internship provides students with structured exposure to semiconductor lithography processes through project-based learning.
  • The intern will study existing lithography process flows, data, and work practices to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and business process optimization.
  • Under the guidance of process engineers, the intern will apply engineering, data analysis, and problem-solving methods to develop improvement concepts and proposals that enhance process robustness, efficiency, and standardization.
  • This internship is designed as a learning and analytical role , not an operational role.
  • Learning Objectives By the end of the internship, the student will be able to: Understand fundamental lithography process flows, controls, and key performance indicators.
  • Apply structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies in a manufacturing context.
  • Analyze process and equipment data to identify gaps, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Learn basic automation concepts and how they are applied to manufacturing and business processes.
  • Develop technical documentation and presentations suitable for engineering reviews.
  • Project Scope The intern will work on defined projects that may include: Studying existing lithography process flows, control strategies, and standard operating procedures to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Analyzing historical process or equipment data to support yield, quality, or efficiency improvement studies.
  • Developing concepts or prototypes for process automation or digitalization (e.g., scripts, logic flows, dashboards, or workflows).
  • Evaluating current business processes related to lithography operations and proposing optimization or standardization improvements.
  • Documenting findings, analyses, and recommendations in structured technical reports and presentations.
  • Presenting project outcomes to engineering stakeholders at key milestones.
  • Deliverables Completion of at least two project-based continuous improvement initiatives , such as: Process gap analysis with data-backed recommendations Automation or digitalization concept (e.g., workflow, logic design, or prototype) SOP or process documentation optimization proposal Final project report and presentation summarizing methodology, analysis, results, and recommendations.
  • Interim updates or reviews aligned with project milestones.
  • Required Skillset Basic understanding of engineering or scientific principles.
  • Ability to analyze data and present findings clearly.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Excel, PowerPoint; programming or data tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Power BI) are a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn in a structured manufacturing and engineering environment.
  • Course of Interest Chemical Engineering Electrical or Electronic Engineering Materials Science Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering Data Science or related engineering/science disciplines About Micron Technology, Inc.
