What You'll Do

  • will transition to operational support and sustaining engineering activities.
  • Responsibilities and Tasks Oversee third-party design firms in the development of process chemical systems, including bulk chemicals, VMB/VMP layouts, and point-of-use delivery Review and validate third-party design deliverables, including piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and system layouts, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards (e.g., SEMI S2, ASME B31.3).
  • Conduct technical evaluations of gas system designs, verifying flow capacity, pressure control, material compatibility, and leak integrity.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, construction teams, and vendors to ensure seamless integration of gas systems with other facility utilities (e.g., process tools, exhaust, and life safety systems).
  • Collaborate with external design teams, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to align chemical system designs with facility requirements and project timelines.
  • Perform quality assurance and risk assessments on third-party designs, identifying and resolving issues related to constructability, safety, or compliance.
  • Support construction by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and participating in field coordination and inspections.
  • Oversee commissioning and testing phases by reviewing third-party design performance and coordinating with vendors for equipment validation and system startup.
  • Oversee the implementation of safety protocols for hazardous chemicals, ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA, CGA guidelines, and local regulations.
  • Monitor system health using diagnostic tools and performance data to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Utilize BIM tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) to verify design interoperability and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Monitor project progress, manage design-related risks, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality design deliverables.
  • May require occasional travel to project sites, vendor facilities, or third-party design offices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple design deliverables and deadlines.
  • Relocation to project location is required.
  • Position is 100% on-site, no hybrid.
  • Qualifications & Experience Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., PE, GAWDA, or hazardous gas safety training) are a plus. 3–5 years of experience in chemical engineering, with at least 2 years overseeing third-party design or managing chemical system projects in industrial or semiconductor environments.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical delivery system design.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, such as SEMI S2/S6, ASME BPE, and CGA guidelines for gas handling.
  • Proficiency in reviewing engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, 3D models, and specifications, using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills to coordinate with external design firms, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on ensuring safety, compliance, and quality in third-party designs.
  • Experience with control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA) and BIM workflows for design coordination is highly desirable.

Nice to Have

  • Experience overseeing third-party designs for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center facilities with stringent gas system requirements.
  • Proficient in BIM tools and workflows (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) for Gas system documentation, modeling, and integration.
  • Ability to mentor internal teams or liaise effectively with external stakeholders to ensure design alignment.
  • The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is: $89,000.00 - $151,000.00 a year Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
