- The Filmetrics group in San Diego is looking for a Buyer to join our team.
- This role requires experience in electronics and optical procurement, along with the ability to collaborate with vendors on technical requirements and lead strategic discussions with cross-functional stakeholders. • Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments, and may provide guidance to other personnel.
- Review and analyze purchase requisitions, RFQ, and evaluate suppliers to support the current build plan.
- Coordinates purchasing activities with Production, Planning and Engineering to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner.
- Coordinates any changes with Sales and Production as appropriate to evaluate impact.
- Owns Purchase Order management, e.g. ensure delivery on-time (OTD) and rescheduling.
- Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity.
- Experience with subcontracted materials and SAP settings will be beneficial.
- Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g. materials, components, equipment and services).
- Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned suppliers/subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.
- Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.
- May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing.
- Interacts closely with suppliers and manufacturing engineering to resolve quality issues.
- Buyer point of contact for Engineering Change Order review and implementation.
- Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.
- Requires domestic or global expertise of assigned commodities.
Requirements
- Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 6 years; OR Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 8 years; OR equivalent work experience .
