About This Role

• Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for an experienced technical writer with a technical software background and a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our development team.
• Mainframe systems are at the heart of the digital economy, with 80% of the world’s structured corporate data residing or originating on mainframes, and 55% of all enterprise applications hitting the mainframe to complete transactions.

• We are adding a technical writer to our team in the Plano, TX office to document mainframe software.
• Excellent writing skills are a must, but a technical mind is crucial.
• Mainframe experience or familiarity is a big plus.
• Apply now to work with a creative, motivated tech writing team! Job Description: Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication.
• Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.
• Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users.
• May document engineering processes and specifications.
• Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements.
• Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.
• Knowledge: Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. • Strong project management skills • Leads design and delivery of new products/process • Functional breadth and depth, plus expert in complementary fields • Applies broad concepts and theories to achieve innovative and effective solutions to complex problems Job Complexity / Contribution: Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

• Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. • Will champion significant projects, programs and business initiatives using demonstrated creativity and ingenuity • Leads projects and product teams on documentation initiatives • Influences or impacts others' priorities, decisions or activities • Escalation point for complex issues • Coaches and mentors other junior team members Supervision: Works closely with direct supervisor and product teams to propose, plan, and initiate documentation needs. • Reports to a documentation supervisor along with other tech writing colleagues • Adheres to the goals of both the technical writing team and the agile development team • Supports documented best practices and procedures • Consults with management on long-range goals • Independently completes documentation work within management-set priorities Experience/Education : Bachelors and 8+ years of related experience; at this level post-graduate coursework may be desirable, or Masters degree and 6+ years of related experience, or PhD and 3+ years of related experience Additional Job Description: Compensation and Benefits The annual base salary range for this position is $88,300 - 141,300 This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
