• The AI and Advanced Services team within the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Division is seeking a highly skilled Applied AI Engineer.
• Working at the intersection of research and product engineering, you will help enable AI workloads to run seamlessly on VCF.
• This role requires a unique blend of deep AI expertise, hands-on experience with on-premise and cloud infrastructure, and cross functional collaboration to drive product outcomes.
• You will join a global team of senior engineers and technologists responsible for VCF's AI IaaS platform.
• By collaborating closely with product, engineering, and AI platform teams, you will help deliver highly performant, cost effective AI solutions across the VCF portfolio.
• Responsibilities Design and implement enterprise scale AI infrastructure solutions to enable agents at scale.
• Develop optimizations for AI workloads to ensure maximum hardware utilization and efficiency.
• Leverage VCF runtime data to derive new insights that will inform performance and scalability improvements.
• Manage stakeholders effectively and solve ambiguous technical challenges that align to the overall strategy and roadmap for the team.
• Requirements Deep practical knowledge of both theoretical and production designs for infrastructure and systems that support AI agents, including APIs, cloud services, and data pipelines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills preferably demonstrated through technical blogs, published research, and talks.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI coding tools such as Cursor, Codex, or Claude Code.
• BS with 8, MS with 5 or PhD with 3 years of experience in computer science, machine learning or equivalent practical experience with specialization in cloud or on-premise infrastructure preferred.
• Proven track record of taking a novel concept, engineering a solution and driving its adoption to a product at scale.
• Location This job is onsite in Palo Alto, California Additional Job Description: Compensation and Benefits The annual base salary range for this position is $ 120,000 - $192,000 This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
