What You'll Do
- Provide subject matter expertise on electricity distribution systems including medium voltage and low voltage networks operations, load behaviour , switching operations and control centre processes.
- Lead the technical development and deployment of grid monitoring and analysis solutions based on advanced sensing platforms and high resolution data acquisition.
- Apply innovative sensor technologies to improve real time network observability including; waveform analysis, harmonics, thermal monitoring and other advanced condition monitoring techniques.
- Use strong understanding of network topology to support the development of analytics models fault detection strategies and situational awareness tools that enhance operational decision making.
- Work closely with software engineering teams to ensure data is transformed into actionable insights through analytics visualisation and cloud based platforms.
- Lead and support integration of VT Electron systems into customer Digital Twin, SCADA and ADMS environments ensuring robust secure and interoperable data exchange.
- Define and document integration architectures, validation approaches and performance criteria for deployment within diverse utility environments.
- Provide technical leadership and input into tender submissions including; technical specifications, compliance matrices, solution architecture, product configurations and deployment methodologies.
- Represent Analog Devices in technical workshops customer meetings and clarification sessions ensuring solutions are aligned with customer operational and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain high quality technical documentation including functional design descriptions, installation guides, commissioning procedures, operation manuals and integration documentation.
- Design and oversee system validation and acceptance testing strategies .
- Develop and deliver technical training materials and sessions for both internal teams and customer engineering and operations personnel.
- Essential Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of six years working within electricity distribution systems including network operations and system integration.
- Experience working directly with distribution system operators on digitalisation or network modernisation projects.
- Field experience of primary and secondary substations in distribution networks.
- Experience of technical tender responses and customer solution development within a utility context.
- Proven ability to produce clear structured technical documentation and communicate complex technical concepts to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers internal teams and senior leadership.
- Willingness to travel as required to support customer engagements site deployments and technical workshops.
- Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Full driving licence.
- Desirable Experience: Experience working directly with distribution system operators on digitalisation or network modernisation projects.
- Familiarity with relevant IEC and EN standards relating to monitoring protection and data communications within electricity networks.
- Experience with cloud based architectures IoT platforms or advanced analytics solutions applied to energy systems.
- Experience of electronics, firmware and coding.
- Demonstrated experience applying novel technologies, analytics platforms and topology aware tools to improve network monitoring and fault diagnosis.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation.
