Analog Design Engineer

What You'll Do

• · High-Speed Circuit Design: Design and analyze high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuit blocks for SerDes applications.
• Participate in transistor-level implementation, optimization, and performance verification. · Circuit Simulation and Verification: Perform block-level and transistor-level simulations using Cadence Virtuoso and related EDA tools.
• Verify performance across process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) corners, including Monte Carlo and statistical analysis. · SerDes Building Block Development: Contribute to the design and evaluation of SerDes building blocks such as ADCs, DACs, TX/RX front ends, LC or ring oscillators, PLLs, CDRs, CTLEs, DFEs, and adaptive signal-processing loops. · Performance, Power, and Area Optimization: Develop and evaluate circuit topologies to achieve competitive performance, power, area, robustness, and manufacturability. · Layout Collaboration: Work closely with layout engineers on floor planning, parasitic-aware implementation, matching, signal integrity, power integrity, and post-layout verification. · Silicon Validation: Support silicon bring-up, characterization, and debugging using oscilloscopes, BERTs, VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and related laboratory equipment. · Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with architecture, digital, verification, package, process, test, product, and application teams to meet system-level performance objectives. · Documentation and Communication: Create clear design documentation, simulation summaries, review materials, test reports, and technical presentations. · AI-Enhanced Engineering Productivity: Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate technical research, coding, simulation automation, data analysis, debugging, documentation, and knowledge sharing, while independently validating outputs and protecting confidential information.
• Must Have Skills · Education: M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field. · Analog and Mixed-Signal Fundamentals: Strong understanding of amplifiers, feedback systems, comparators, references, sampling circuits, data converters, noise, mismatch, stability, and frequency-domain analysis. · CMOS Circuit Design: Knowledge of MOS device operation and practical CMOS analog design, including process variation, reliability, and layout-dependent effects. · SerDes Fundamentals: Understanding of high-speed communication concepts including jitter, equalization, channel loss, clock recovery, signal integrity, eye diagrams, and bit-error-rate performance. · Simulation and Modeling: Experience with SPICE/Spectre and Cadence design tools; familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or equivalent engineering analysis environments. · Programming and Automation: Ability to write scripts for simulation control, data processing, visualization, regression analysis, or design-flow automation. · AI Tool Understanding and Usage: Practical understanding of generative AI and AI-assisted engineering tools, including effective prompting, coding assistance, data-analysis support, document generation, and workflow automation. · AI Output Validation: Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated content, verify results against simulations, measurements, specifications, or primary sources, and recognize limitations such as hallucination, incomplete context, and data-security risks. · Communication and Teamwork: Strong written and verbal communication skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Preferred Education and Experience · Deep academic, research, internship, or project experience designing a subset of SerDes building blocks: ADC, DAC, TX/RX front ends, LC oscillators, PLL, CDR, CTLE, or DFE. · High-speed circuit design experience above 10 GS/s is a significant asset. · Tape-out, post-layout verification, silicon validation, or relevant graduate research experience is a plus. · Knowledge of wireline communication standards, channel modeling, jitter analysis, equalization algorithms, or mixed-signal verification is an advantage. · Demonstrated use of Python, MATLAB, or AI-assisted coding tools to automate engineering analysis and improve productivity is preferred. · Ability to communicate technical ideas through clear reports, presentations, and design reviews.
• What Success Looks Like · Rapidly develops practical SerDes circuit-design capability through hands-on design work and mentorship. · Uses simulation, measurement, scripting, and AI-assisted workflows effectively while maintaining rigorous engineering validation. · Communicates clearly, collaborates across functions, and contributes to robust, high-performance silicon solutions.
